Welcome Back 13th Janaury 2023

Principal's Message

Welcome back after a lovely Christmas and New Year break. I am delighted to announce that our OFSTED report is available for sharing with our school community. The report confirms that FHA remains a 'Good' school and that the pupils are flourishing. The report praises our school leaders, curriculum and the personal development opportunities we provide. It is available on our website, has been sent out to you separately and is on Class DoJo. Well done to everyone of FHA!

Rotary Club and Santa Run

Thank you to PTA and Rotary Club for the Santa Run. A donation of £470 has been received to support our enrichment opportunities.

Leaning Review

Maple - What a great week we have had with getting back into our routines. We have been looking at our new transformational text in talk for writing, we have been having decisions about tourism in geography and how it has advantages and disadvantages. What a great discussion we all had - children really understand what it takes to have a positive impact on our economy and environment through tourism. Art has been amazing so far, studying William Morris - on Friday we are exploring drawing flowers! Well done all!

Silver Birch - It’s been great to see everybody settling well into school. We are so happy to see everyone back and ready to learn! We’ve had a busy week continuing with our current Talk for Reading unit - The Iron Man. It was great to see everyone engaging well with understanding the text and on Thursday we looked at synonyms for words. We’ve also enjoyed having an amazing time exploring our current artist - William Morris. Well done year 3!

Elder and Pine - Elder class have settled back into school fabulously. We have begun our geometry topic in Maths and the children have been very enthusiastic about their learning. In Geography we have begun our new topic (Trade) and have looked at the positives and negatives of globalization. We have also begun our new Art topic, textiles, and the children are looking forward to continuing with their creativity over the coming term. I am looking forward to continuing to see all the amazing things we can achieve this half term!

Sequoia - A busy start to the term for Sequoia class. The children have been enjoying our suspense text - ‘The Key’ and threw themselves fully into character during our drama work. Our science work has been great fun as we have been exploring electrical circuits with bulbs, buzzers and motors. The children even created their own switches this week and recorded their circuits using symbols. We are also enjoying finding out about the artist Salvador Dali and have been fascinated by surrealist paintings and sculptures. Fantastic effort!

Willow - It has been a good start for Willow this week. They have been immersed into the theme of Love and tragedy in this term's texts: The Highwayman and Romeo and Juliet. We have also enjoyed our new topic of electricity in science. The children have been getting scientific by creating their own circuits. In maths the children have been introduced to the world of angles. Keep up the good work Willow.

Oak and Acer - We have been thoroughly enthusiastic about their new History topic this half term which is all about WW2. We are looking forward to our trip next week which will help us learn about air raids and how it felt to be in the trenches on the battlefield. We also have been looking at properties of quadrilaterals in Maths and identifying types of angles.

Achievements outside of school!

Well done to Ethan G. who has achieved a Silver award for Cubs. The Silver is the highest award a cub can receive. It is recognition of his achievements and many badges earned during his time as a cub scout.

Welcome to our new pastoral support worker
