Campbell Law Career Night to feature alumnus G. Edward Story of RTI International

The Campbell Law Career and Professional Development Center will host its annual signature event for students and employers, Campbell Law Career Night, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 10, at the Contemporary Art Museum (CAM) in downtown Raleigh’s Warehouse District. The keynote speaker will be G. Edward Story ’87 of RTI International. Campbell Law students will have the opportunity to meet attorneys from the broader legal community for an evening of networking and relationship building. Hispanic Heritage Month: What it Means and How to Get Involved

The Hispanic Law Student Association (HLSA) is hosting its annual Hispanic Heritage Month celebrations through Oct. 15, 2022, to honor the culture, experiences and impact of the Hispanic community. On Sept. 15, HLSA hosted its inaugural Hispanic Heritage Month kick-off event. With food from Mexico and music from the Caribbean, the event highlighted several Hispanic cultures. The food, music, dancing and games all mixed into one fiesta that was a blending of cultures. Thanks to all who showed up and showed out! HLSA looks forward to hosting an annual “fiesta” to celebrate the start of Hispanic Heritage Month. Learn more at this link.

Greensboro social justice series to feature Professor Shawn Fields new book

Professor Shawn Fields will present his new best-selling book, “Neighborhood Watch: Policing White Spaces in America,” as part of a series on social justice with an independent bookstore in downtown Greensboro. His presentation and book signing will be at 6 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14, at Scuppernong Books, 304 S. Elm St. The series “Carceral Country” invites community members to discuss issues of American policing and incarceration systems with authors, journalists and activists who are experts in their respective disciplines. The series began on Sept. 23 with a conversation about death row and runs through Nov. 11. Learn more at this link.

Campbell Law Alumni Association to host annual CLE on Oct. 28

The Campbell Law Alumni Association will host its annual CLE on Friday, Oct. 28. This in-person event offers the opportunity to earn six hours of CLE credit, which has been approved by the N.C. State Bar. The CLE is free for Alumni Association members and $125 for non-members or $75 for a half-day. Register at this link, and learn more here.

Campbell Law hires first Hispanic assistant dean to lead admissions

Dean J. Rich Leonard has announced Miguel Hernandez will serve as assistant dean of admissions effective Sept. 19, 2022. Hernandez is the first Hispanic dean to lead the school’s admissions and financial aid department. In his role, Hernandez oversees the law school’s admissions process in its entirety, from prospective student interaction to application review and selection to financial aid, matriculation and orientation. Meredith Chilausky joins law school as assistant director of Academic Support

Dean J. Rich Leonard announced Meredith Chilausky has joined the school as assistant director of Academic Support and Bar Success effective Sept. 20, 2022. In her newly created role, Chilausky will work to support Assistant Dean of Academic Support and Bar Success Sha Hinds-Glick to provide individual counseling and academic guidance for students as well as administer group programs and seminars designed for academic enhancement. Assistant Dean April Giancola participates on Equal Justice Works panel

April Giancola, Campbell Law's assistant dean of Career Services and Professional Development, recently participated on an interviewing panel for Equal Justice Works’ Public Interest Jobs. Part of Equal Justice Works’ virtual Conference and Career Fair, the panel was designed to prepare law students from around the country to face the challenges of attending virtual career fairs and interviewing remotely. Campbell Law Reporter launches 4th season of student-run podcast

The Campbell Law Reporter (CLR) Podcast has kicked off its fourth season with an interview with Campbell Law Dean J. Rich Leonard. Upcoming interviews will feature the new leader of Legal Aid of North Carolina (LANC) and the assistant general counsel of Glaxo Smith, among many others. Campbell Law's 4th Annual Bike Ride on Oct. 22 will benefit Pro Bono Council projects

Campbell Law will host its Fourth Annual Fundraising Bike Ride on Saturday, Oct. 22. The ride, which is co-sponsored by TREK Bikes, Crabtree Mall, Raleigh Brewing Company, Raleigh Magazine, Attorney at Law Magazine and the Campbell Law Pro Bono Council, will once again offer a 10- to 12-mile family ride, a 40- to 50-mile ride and a virtual ride option. The cost is only $25 for students, faculty, staff and alumni. Volunteers are also needed. Register here.
