Pernille Lind SV ResideNce

In late 2018 Pernille Lind Studio (PLS) was appointed to work on the interior design and full refurbishment of a 4-storey, 420 SQM private residence, in Hellerup, Denmark. the design and construction occurred from 2019-2021.

The house, originally built in 1895 by architect Henrik Hagemann & Møller, was previously owned by artist Hans Voigt Steffensen who decorated the exterior walls, manhole covers and glass doors with murals which were retained. With help from historic photographs of the house, our client decided to restore the original roof ornamentation as well as the exterior balustrades and balcony, returning the house to its original style and glory.

When PLS was engaged by the client, references to English country charm and colonial details led our initial discussions, and a desire to preserve the house’s traditional style became clear. We then aimed to enhance the spaces with modern bohemian luxury.

The result is a sensual and layered interior scheme, where meticulous attention to joinery details, materiality and proportion compliments the carefully selected furniture and antique pieces. A colour scheme of dusty dark green, saturated yellow, blues and cream weave the rooms together across the floors.

Scope: Full interior design services, bespoke joinery design, FF&E sourcing, antique sourcing, procurement and final styling.

except for the following we have just signed on and I haven't had a chance to add them just yet: She was brought up travelling the world, and raised by a family who appreciated crafted designs. Her grandfather ran a family workshop, upholstering furniture and supplied decorative materials. Her father an engineer, taught her the art of sculpture through bridges and magnificent rhythmic structures, and her mother having run two antique shops in Bangkok, taught her the value of objects with a story.Weaving her two cultures of Danish and Thai together, will undoubtedly add a touch of her distinctive style to each project.
