Community Resources

GTrans was out and about supporting our community by participating in the Community Resource Fair that was held at Gardena High School on April 15th, 2023.

GTrans took part in, and provided resource information, at the City of Gardena Cinco de Mayo parade celebration on April 29th, 2023.

On April 19th, 2023 GTrans, along with the City of Gardena's Human Resources Department, participated in the 23rd Annual Blueprint for Workplace Success Youth & Young Adult Job Fair at El Camino College.

Business Expo

On April 26th, 2023, GTrans participated in the City of Hawthorne's Business Expo. We are happy to partner with the City of Hawthorne in providing paratransit services to the community and are happy to share information about our new projects and employment opportunities!

Community Craft Fair & Yard Sale

The City of Gardena held a Community Craft Fair & Yard Sale on April 1st, 2023 at Mas Fukai Park. Available items included household goods, antiques, collectibles, toys, furniture and much more.

Tacos and Taxes

Senator Steven Bradford partnered with Golden State Opportunity to assist residents who qualify with free tax help.

Spring Carnival

The City of Gardena held a Spring Carnival at Mas Fukai Park the weekend of April 7th-9th, 2023 and was presented by Baque Brothers & Classic Rides.

Easter Events

Mayor Tasha Cerda took part in the Easter events that included an egg hunt, games, crafts and more.
The community came out to enjoy breakfast and pictures with the Easter Bunny, various crafts and more.

Organic Waste Event

On April 13th, 2023 the City held a resource event on organic waste for residents and business owners. Waste Resources of Gardena provided information on organic waste recycling.

Youth Chess Tournament

The Youth Chess Tournament has returned this year! Children from grades K-12 participated and tested their strategy skills and success.

Earth Day Community Clean-Up

City of Gardena Mayor Tasha Cerda, Congresswoman Maxine Waters, and the community participated in a fun and productive cleaning day to help with keeping the Willows Wetland Preserve clean and beautiful. After the cleanup, everyone enjoyed a celebration that included vendor booths, games, arts & crafts and much more.

Youth in Government Day

Councilmember Rodney Tanaka, City Manager Clint Osorio, Director of Administrative Services Ray Beeman and students from Gardena High School, Serra High School and Peary Middle School joined together in learning and providing information on Gardena's departments and the ins and outs of how the government runs.

Spring Fling Candlelight Dinner

The Spring Fling Dinner and Dance Candlelight Dinner was held on April 27th, 2023. Staff from the Gardena Police Department took part in the celebration, dinner and dancing and entertainment was provided by ABA Sonics.

Shredding Event

The City of Gardena Public Works staff assists with the shredding event that was held Saturday, April 29th, 2023. 359 vehicles/walkups from residents took part in this great event!

Composting Event

Closing the recycling loop with compost made from the organics program.

On Saturday, April 22nd, 2023 , in collaboration with Waste Resources of Gardena, Public Works staff helped out residents stopping by at the compost giveaway event. Approximately, 180 households were able to take part in this event.

Youth in Government Day

The City of Gardena hosted the annual Youth in Government Day which is dedicated to youths and their development. Staff from Public Works, L.A. County Fire, the Police Department, Community Development and Parks & Recreation took part in this event.

Gardena Police Department Recruitment Team

Staff members from the Gardena Police Department were out in full force recruiting at UFC Gym in Torrance.

Annual 'Toshio Hirai' Memorial Scholarship

The Gardena Police Foundation along with the Gardena Police Department partnered up to present this years' 'Toshio Hirai' Memorial Scholarship. Officer Toshio Hirai was killed in an on-duty motorcycle collision in 2018 and we continue to honor his memory.

South Bay Traffic Committee

Gardena Police Department hosted a South Bay Traffic Committee and conducted a roundtable meeting to network information and go over strategies. Following the meeting, officers went out and conducted traffic enforcement with a focus on speeding vehicles and stop sign violations.

Bike Team Training

The Gardena Police Department hosted an advanced bike team training which included members from the cities of Hawthorne and Culver City. Training consisted of an intense, yet strategic focus on skills and endurance.
