Content Info For The Week

Math (Swindell, Beasley, and Meeks):

At the beginning of the week students will review for the Unit 1 Assessment. The Unit 1 Assessment is on Thursday (Sept. 29th). On Friday, students will begin an introduction to Unit 2 focusing on square roots.

Algebra I (Meeks):

Algebra 1 will continue working with linear functions. This week we will be calculating slope and graphing functions.

ELA (Styron and Bright):

This week scholars will complete the End of Workshop 7 Final Assessment, continue to work on their individualized app segments and reading goals. Additionally, they will complete the 2nd SRI (reading inventory test) on Thursday.

ELA (Lee):

This week in Mrs. Lee's class, students will finish reading their in-class novel, The Outsiders. They will participate in our first Socratic Seminar of the year to discuss overall themes of the novel. Students will also review the elements of narrative writing, in order to write their own original narrative.

9th Grade Lit (Lee):

This week in Mrs. Lee's class, students will work to finish the rough draft of their narratives. They will trade rough drafts with a classmate in order to get feedback, and then type and submit their final draft on Wednesday, September 28. We will then begin reviewing parallel structure and other Unit 1 skills for our Unit 1 assessment on Wednesday, October 5.

Science (Carver and Lewis):

This week in physical science scholars will explore different physical types of matter and mixtures. Scholars will have a lab this week making a lava lamp to observe mixtures and non-mixtures. Quiz on Friday.

Social Studies (MacArthur and Lewis):

This week in Mr. MacArthur's class, students will be taking their unit 2 summative test on Monday and Tuesday. Starting on Wednesday, students will begin unit 3 covering the American Revolution and Georgia's involvement.
