Parkside Primary News Week ending: Friday 3rd February 2023

ONE MORE WEEK UNTIL THE HALF TERM BREAK

As our newsletters are fortnightly, this is the last one before the half term break. School closes at 3.30pm on Friday 10th February. As always, we hope you have a lovely break when it comes. The first signs of spring are starting to appear, so hopefully we can all get outside and enjoy seeing what we can spot. We reopen on Monday 20th February.

Can you spot any snowdrops this half term holiday?

SAFER INTERNET DAY

On Tuesday 7th February it's Safer Internet Day. This year's theme is 'Want to talk about it? Making space for conversations about life online'. Next week, children across school will be taking part in themed activities and discussions around this topic.

This week's Online Safety Parent Guide ties in nicely with this, so please do take a look at it further down this newsletter to encourage your own discussions at home.

WORLD BOOK DAY

Just a reminder that World Book Day will be celebrated on Thursday 2nd March. This year's theme will be 'fiction vs non-fiction'. We invite children and staff to choose their side!

If you choose fiction, come to school dressed as a character from a fictional story book or wear the colour red.

If you choose non-fiction, come to school dressed as something based on a non-fiction book or wearing the colour blue. Some ideas may be - a scientist; an explorer; an animal; an astronaut; a famous sportsperson.

We will look across school at which genre is the most popular: will it be fiction or non-fiction?
