May 13, 2022 - After spending a year at another College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin (CCIW) institution, North Central College men’s lacrosse senior Scott Allgood rediscovered his passion for lacrosse and found his way to North Central to reunite with his brother on the field.

Allgood chose to attend Illinois Wesleyan University after his senior year of highschool but found his way to North Central just after one year. “The culture at Illinois Wesleyan made me feel like I wasn’t fitting in well, I also lost my passion for lacrosse while I was there. Transferring to North Central gave me another opportunity to play lacrosse with my brother again” said Allgood.

During his time as a Cardinal, Allgood has played in 35 games tallying 47 goals and 59 assists. On April 29, Allgood was the fifth Cardinal in program history to surpass 100 career points and currently sits in fifth for career points, ninth for career goals and second all-time for assists. He also holds the program record for single-season assists with 31.

Lacrosse wasn’t something Allgood picked up at an early age, his parents got him into football early in his life but he would stop playing by the time he got to highschool. He found lacrosse after a football banquet, so his parents signed him up and the rest is history.

“I started playing football at a young age, my parents got me into that. I played all the way up to freshman year of highschool. We were looking for something to do in the offseason for Jake and I and we were at a sports banquet and my parents saw lacrosse being played at the field. My parents signed us up and ever since then it has just been lacrosse” said Allgood.

Allgood, a Naperville native, has a brother and a sister, Jake and Carly. He praised them for being his biggest supporters and that they help him be the best version of himself on a day to day basis. He also praised his parents for raising him to be independent and helping him be the man he is today. “My family is everything to me, my mom and dad have been hard on me my whole life but they are my biggest supporters. They have also taught me to be independent which has created a lot of mental toughness which has made me the man I am today” said Allgood.

Allgood and his Family

Outside of lacrosse, Allgood enjoys weight lifting which he became very passionate about when he stepped on campus at North Central. “I found a passion for lifting weights when I got to North Central, I don’t know if I can live without it,” said Allgood. He also enjoys woodworking, he picked up this hobby after he took a class in highschool and he has made chairs, tables and enjoys making pens as well. When asked about the quarantine and what he did during that time, Allgood said “I started to learn the guitar so I wouldn’t play video games all day, it is something I enjoy doing and it really challenged me.”

Allgood came into North Central looking to get a degree in accounting but after taking a few classes, he decided to make the switch to finance. “I was originally accounting and then one day I figured out that I can’t do this everyday and I didn't want to sit at a desk and do the same thing. I always like investing, so finance was a no brainer for me. You can get into so many different things in finance which really drew me to the major” said Allgood.

Following his graduation and lacrosse career, Allgood is planning to work as an Account Representative for CDW in their Chicago office.
