Cosmetology is my passion! I love the industry and am forever growing and learning. I received my Bachelor's Degree at Illinois State University and immediately went into the classroom. Next on my journey I ventured into corporate America where I worked as an Auto Claim Representative at State Farm Insurance. I always loved teaching and I never stopped doing hair and make up. For the past several years, here at Maxwell HS, I have had the pleasure of merging two careers I adore most, cosmetology and teaching. I plan on being here for a long time. I do it for the students. I aspire to teach them everything I know of this industry, as well as how to be productive citizens in society. I believe in encouraging people down a path they love and enjoy. This is my mission as a cosmetology teacher at Maxwell HS of Technology.

Since then many students have placed in both Region and State SkillsUSA hair, nail and esthetics competitions.

Mrs. Christine Hinton

Chris.Hinton@gcpsk12.org

Cosmetology is my passion! I knew the beauty industry was for me when I taught myself how to do my own acrylic nails at age 14! I am originally from the Pacific Northwest by way of California and have lived in Gwinnett County for 25 years. I have been a licensed Master Cosmetologist for 21 years and a cosmetology educator for 4 years. Prior to my time at Maxwell, I was the Admissions Director and educator at Keune Academy by 124 and had the pleasure to recruit and teach Maxwell HS graduates at the post-secondary level. I have been on Maxwell HS's advisory board for 5 years and have served as a SkillsUSA judge. I am an American board-certified hair colorist and extensionist, natural curl advocate, lash tech and certified in microblading. My motto, in the classroom, is to make learning fun through rigorous education with humor every day. I have two children; an 18-year-old daughter and a 16-year-old son, a fur baby named Loola, and I love to travel and cook in my spare time. My advice to my students is to meet as many people as you can, learn by doing, and don't be afraid to try new things and make mistakes.
