Dear University community,

  • National Voter Registration Day will be observed here on campus tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 20. Voter registration tables will be set up across the University to help students, faculty, and staff get registered. The event is organized by TAMIU’s All-In Taskforce Committee.   • This week, a special on-campus COVID19 Bivalent Booster Clinic will be held Thursday, Sept. 22 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Student Center Rotunda. Currently-enrolled students who receive their Bivalent Booster here may be eligible for a Starbucks gift card. Gift card quantities are limited. To qualify for the gift card, you must receive your bivalent booster at Thursday’s clinic.
  • On Sunday, Sept. 25, TAMIU’s campus operations will be suspended for AEP-required maintenance scheduled from 7 a.m. to approximately 3 p.m. This will require all campus buildings to be powered down. Campus access during this period will be limited and buildings secured.
  • The University is making provisions for gathering spaces in a generator-powered area for student housing residents. Campus visitors are advised that during this AEP service period, access will be restricted to employees and students living on campus. Off-campus access to the University’s online resources including email and website, will continue to be fully available. Library services will resume later on Sunday from 4 – 8 p.m. and the Rec Center will reopen from 4 – 10 p.m.

  • The “Borderland Collective” exhibit, currently housed at the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts Gallery, (second floor) will end Friday, Sept. 30.   • Please note that COVID-19 continues to be a threat here, across our State, nation, and world. The use of recommended face coverings/masks, and rigorous hand-washing can help reduce your exposure risk. Learn more about on-campus testing.
  • Monkeypox is a rare disease caused by infection with the monkeypox virus. As the disease also remains a threat to college campuses, TAMIU students are encouraged to remain informed about the disease. Monkeypox Information specific to colleges and universities is available on our COVID-19 Response Center website.

COVID-19 Bivalent Booster Clinic Happening Thursday

An on-campus COVID-19 Bivalent Booster Clinic is scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 22 from 11 a.m. - 2 p.m. at the Student Center Rotunda. While the clinic is open to the University community and the general public, currently enrolled students (ID required) receiving their Bivalent Booster may be eligible for a Starbucks gift card. Gift card quantities are limited and are available while supplies last. Students must receive a COVID-19 bivalent booster at this clinic to qualify for a gift card.

Additional Clinic Information

  • Primary vaccines and bivalent boosters will be offered
  • PFIZER bivalent booster may be administered to individuals 12 years of age and older
  • Must be a minimum of 8 weeks since previous COVID vaccine
  • Must be a minimum of 10 days after recovering from COVID infection
  • No insurance needed
  • ID required
  • Vaccines are free

TAMIU Launches Hispanic Heritage Month Celebration with Engaging Lectures, Activities for Students, Public

TAMIU launched its month-long observance of Hispanic Heritage Month with engaging lectures, presentations and fun activities. TAMIU Hispanic Heritage Month events are the result of a collaboration between the Office of Student Orientation, Leadership and Engagement, Campus Activities Board, the Office for International Engagement, and the TAMIU Inclusion, Diversity and Equity Committee.

TAMIU Gears Up for National Voter Registration Day Tuesday, Sept. 20

We're ready for National Voter Registration Day, happening Tuesday, Sept. 20 from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. on campus. Voter registration tables will be set up across the university to help you get registered to vote. Students, faculty and staff members are encouraged to visit a booth and get registered. TAMIU Faculty Opening Concert this Friday

Organized through the College of Arts and Sciences' Department of FIne and Performing Arts, a Faculty Opening Concert is scheduled for Friday, Sept. 23 at 6:30 p.m. in the Center for the Fine and Performing Arts. Admission is free and open to the public.
