Eastern Woodlands Tools By: logan

The eastern woodlands materials that they used for tools are all kinds of wood that the eastern woodland had, flint that would be made into arrow rocks, stone to make stone knives, bark sinew, and bone to make shovels and thing like that. For almost every tool they would have wood as one of the ingredients. Same with bark senew they would use bark sinew for pretty much everything like bows they would use bark sinew for the shooting part of the bow and that is the materials of the eastern woodlands tools.

What were the tools the women use? A bark peler the bark peeler would pell bark so they could make thing like baskets and bark sinew. First they would make a cut in the middle of the tree sometimes they might have to do it 2 or 3 times. Then you should hear a clicking noise and that's how you now when you take off the bark. Finally you peel the bark off very slowly you will probably need another person to take off the bark.

What did the use for tools? They would use fishing spears that they would use at night and had three points. Another is a bow to sometimes fish and hunt. Another is a stone knife to peel bark and that is only half of them. Here is the other half of the tools that they used: A war club that has a rock on a stick and they would use these for wars. another is a bola a bola has 3 pieces of string and at the end of each piece of string they had deer hide and tay would make 3 balls out of the hide they would put sand in the balls and they would use these to hunt and last but not least a tomahawk they use these to make little pieces of wood for a fire but the tomahawk came out when the europeans came over and that is what the men used.

Did the children use tools? No but they would watch their mom or dad use the tools so when they use the tools they will know how to use them when they are older. The children would use the same tools when they get to 10 or 12 years old. They learned by watching then using the tool.

The eastern woodlands would trade fur for knives and sometimes they would trade their tools but not all the time. The eastern woodlands would only trade with other tribes they now and are not an enemy to. The eastern woodlands would trade bows for fur and muskets and they would trade these with the europeans. They also traded for thing like new steel tools and cotton clothes.

The native americans did not now the europeans would lie but they did then the native americans had to go and live on thing called reserves and then the native american life would never be the same.
