There are many different approaches to street photography, a lot of the time street photography is refering to candid style shots in public places. The aim is to capture everyday life so a lot of the time candid shots add to the everyday life as no one is posed. Although some street photographers will go up and ask strangers if they can take a portrait of them so this style looks a little different as they are aware of the camera.

Tom spader - New York city streets

These two shots are from a photographer named tom spader and these images are my favourite out of his series titled 'New York city streets' which features many candid shots of people going around their day in New York. The shot on the left was the first image which drew me in to look at this series, the angle which this is shot at is really interesting to look at as either the photographer or just the camera must have been resting on the ground. I really love the smoke coming out of the drain surrounding our subject wearing what appears to be a suit. It really gives off the daily life in New York atmosphere with the tall buildings behind our subject. Then with the image on the right we see someone standing on a subway platform, I really love the composition of this shot and all the different lighting we see. This image gives off a very eerie atmosphere as although we can see someone standing we can't see them that well so it adds a mysterious and almost suspenseful atmosphere and the subjects stance also feels rather threatening in the dark subway station.

Daz smith- street photography

These are two shots I really liked from Daz smiths's website under the street photography section. These images show us us what posed street photography looks like as our subjects are both looking directly into the camera. I really like the portrait on the left as it has so much detail In it and it looks super textured with the contrast of our subjects beard and jacket. I really like how this portrait takes up the whole frame and is so close up allowing us to see all the details and features of the subjects face. The picture on the right I really like as we can really see the subject has been stopped in the middle of going about their day, it feels very caught in the moment. I also really like all the different textures and colour contrasts of the subjects clothes from the netted top of the t-shirt and then the light creased jacket.

Zun lee- street photography

One of my favourite street photography series is by Zun lee who's series features black and white and colourful street photography. The black and white full length image is really eye catching, it looks like it could be used as a fashion shot. The subjects outfit is super eye catching itself but then with the contrast of it against this gate entrance really makes our subject pop. I think the background is really nice and has lots of detail to look at and then with our subject posed in front it could be the cover of a fashion magazine. Then with the colour portraits I really like how simple the top one is but the cool tones behind our subject work really well to bring out the bright vibrant colours of our subjects head wrap. In the bottom picture we see someone either walking by or leaning beside this reflective surface and it makes for a really interesting shot. I also really love the vibrant background colours and the bokeh effect of the lights behind our subject. Visually I think Sun lees work is really interesting to look at and there is so much variety in all these shots but they still make a series of images.
