Dear parents and carers
I am writing to invite you to Parkside’s Sports Day and to provide you with further information about the event. The Sports Day will start at approximately 9.30am on Wednesday 19th June 2024 for Years 3 and 4. The children will need to register for their classes as normal and then will be led to their starting event by their class teacher. Please drop off your child at the usual time, then you may go to wait on the school field if you wish.
Please note that due to the size of the school, this year we have split the year groups. Separate letters have gone out regarding the Nursery, Reception, KS1 and Upper KS2 events.
I have enclosed a plan of the field showing where the events will be taking place and at which event your child’s class will start the activities. Classes will complete the activities in numerical order. (After completing event number 9, the class will move to event number one and continue, time permitting, until they have completed all of the events.)
At approximately 11.00am, the children will assemble in the centre of the relay track in their classes to watch the relay races and for the presentation of the cup. The sports day will then finish around 11.15am and the children will go back to their classes to resume their normal school day.
The children need to come to school in their PE kit. The children will be provided with a band in their house colour;
Maple = Yellow Birch = Blue Ash = Green Oak = Red
Children are encouraged to wear hats and will need to take out their water bottles for the events. Please ensure that your child has a water bottle in school. At some time, your child’s class will go into school to the toilets and can ‘top up’ their bottles then if they need to. Please do not bring any additional drinks. Children can apply sun-cream before they go out if you have sent some into school. (Please note that your child will be given a celebratory ice lolly on Monday 3rd July after all of the school events have finished. Full allergen details will be available.)
Please remember, the whole of the school site is a ‘No Smoking/Vaping area’ and dogs must not be brought to Sports Day. Please also be reminded that photographs and videos should not be taken during the event. Individual photos of your own child can be taken at the end for personal use only but we request that images of other children are not distributed or put online. This is to protect all members of the community.
Thank you for your support. I look forward to seeing you for what is sure to be a fun-filled morning. In the event that the Sports Day needs to be cancelled due to weather or field conditions, a text will be sent out early in the morning.
Kind regards,
Miss S O'Brien, Headteacher
