You don't get what you never ask for - it's taken a long time to learn this but I understand now that people are not mind readers and just because I would like to visit their garden doesn't mean they know that. So I have taken to asking!
It seems to be working.
Columbine
I love columbine and Mel has a wonderful collection of these lovely plants.
So many adjectives to describe the columbine. Whether in the wild or in your garden the columbine belies its delicate appearance. It is one of the hardiest plants I know.
The common comfrey plant may have medicinal uses but you had better know how to use it to avoid a negative experience. It does have a lovely little blossom.
I tried Lamium in my garden years ago and am still pulling it out, but whenever I see it in someone else's garden I wonder if I was too harsh. A great ground cover - it just gets a little greedy and quickly invades its neighbours' territory.
Memories
Mel was telling me, much of her love of gardening was a gift from her father. Her coal scuttle that she plants annually is a loving reminder of him in her garden.
This & That Around the Garden
It's like a treasure hunt finding all the non-floral treasures tucked here and there. Each has a story about how they came to have a place in the garden.
Mel told me she waits for the weed to grow up to meet her, she doesn't like bending down. I think she was pulling my leg!
An Abundance of Blossoms
What is a garden without a "guard" cat? This one wouldn't come close enough for a picture preferring to remain hidden where it could keep an eye on me.
Mel shares her sense of humour by keeping a vintage lawnmower almost overgrown by foliage.
Birds are always welcome to the garden as well.
I'll finish my visit with a couple of more columbine - because I like them.
Until the next time - stay well & stay safe.
