Iowa Central wins record sixth Half Marathon National Title
Tallahassee, FL – Iowa Central wins the 2022 NJCAA Men's Half Marathon Championship, presented by the Marines, title in Tallahassee, Florida. The Tritons secured the title by an eight-point margin over New Mexico JC. El Paso (TX) rounded out the top 3 with a third-place finish. Iowa Central's team total of 15 was the tenth lowest in NJCAA Women's Half Marathon history.
The Tritons sophomore trio of Chloe Garcia Grafing, Zinash Valen, and Taylor McCreedy secured the title for Iowa Central finishing fourth, fifth, and sixth respectively. El Paso's Faith Nyathi won the individual title with a time of 1:19:59, eight seconds faster than second place.

Iowa Central added another accolade to its history of success in distance running, by tieing the record for most women's half marathon titles with six national titles.
The trio of Chloe Garcia Grafing, Zinash Valen, and Taylor McCreedy each finished within the top 6. Garcia Grafing came in fourth place with a time of 1:28:33. Valen and McCreedy each crossed the finish line at 1:29:03.
New Mexico comes up just short of first women's half marathon title
New Mexico finished in second place and came up just short of winning their first women's half marathon national title. Freshman Damaris Chewon led the way for the TBirds, by finishing the race in second place with a time of 1:27:29.
Carolyne Kimaiyo's time of 1:31:28 gave her a ninth place finish after running a tough race throughout the course and was a key runner for the Saints. Sophomore Daisy Jerop was the third TBird to cross the finish with a time of 1:32:58 and 12th place finish.
El Paso's Faith Nyathi wins the individual title for a second straight year
Sophomore Faith Nyathi had a strong weekend between Cross Country and Half Marathon. The El Paso runner won both the Cross Country and Half Marathon individual Championships over the weekend.
Nyathi's Half Marathon title was the second consecutive, and finished with a time of 1:19:59 and outpaced the field by an entire seven minutes
