Track Opens With Elm City Challenge

The Men's and Women's Indoor Track & Field teams opened their indoor season this weekend, hosting their only home meet of the 2022-23 year. In dominant fashion, the Mules tallied 18 event winners, including sweeping the podium in 10 events.

The Men's team swept the podium in the 400m, 600m, 5000m, and the Pole Vault.

Women's Ice Hockey Keeps Winning, Remains Undefeated

#6 Colby cruised to a 3-0 week (9-1 over UNE, 5-1 over Potsdam, 4-1 over Castleton), collectively outscoring their opponents by an 18-3 margin.

McKinley Karpa led the way statistically, collecting seven points (2 goals, 5 assists) over the course of the week. Bri Michaud-Nolan, Meg Rittenhouse, and Courtney Schumacher each registered five points in the three matches.

Rittenhouse leads the conference in goals (8) and points (14). Karpa finds herself at the top of the leaderboards in assists (8) and slides in right behind her teammate in points, ranking second with 12.

Colby remains the only undefeated team in the NESCAC (8-0-0), heading into the break unbeaten for the first time since 2019-20 when the Mules were 6-0-1 to start the year.

Mules Gather Two More Wins on Mayflower Hill

The Men’s Basketball team finished the first half of the season at home, adding victories against UMF (81-70) and in-state rival Bates (78-61). Against UMF, Jack Lawson led the Mules with 20 points while also grabbing 12 rebounds. Will King matched his second-highest career assist total, dishing out 12 dimes, currently leading the NESCAC with 58 on the year.

During the non-conference matchup against Bates, Lawson and Noah Tyson led the team as they both finished with double-doubles, combining for 36 points and 25 rebounds. Tyson ranks 4th in the conference in rebounds, fifth in blocks, and 10th in steals and scoring.

The Mules have a 10-1 record heading into the December break, their best record to start a season since finishing the first semester of the 2019-20 season 10-0.

#14 Colby Tops Camels, Falls to Tufts

The Men's Ice Hockey team ran its string of victories to six to start the year, defeating Conn. College Friday night 6-3. Sophomore Jake MacDonald collected his first career hat trick, and added an assist.

In Saturday's rematch of last season's playoff game against Tufts, the visiting Jumbos were able to break a 1-1 tie halfway through the 3rd period, and added a late empty net goal for a 3-1 victory, delivering Colby its first setback of the season.

John McElaney leads the conference in assists with seven, followed by Carter Breitenfeldt and Jack Sullivan with six apiece.

Colby's 6-1-0 record marks the most wins during the first semester since the 2017-18 team entered the break at 6-2-0.

Colby Falls in Matchups Against Bates, Husson Heading into Winter Break

The Women’s Basketball team headed to Lewiston on Tuesday for a non-conference matchup against the Bates Bobcats. Caroline Smith (16 points) and Carter McGloon (12 points) led the attack for the Mules, but Bates senior guard Meghan Graff kept the Bobcats in front, leading all scoring with a season-high 33 points and securing the victory 74-48.

In Saturday's game against Husson, the Mules fought back from an 18-point deficit to close the gap to seven, but the visiting Eagles shot 48% from behind the arc to secure a 69-49 victory. McGloon once again had a good performance, notching 14 points and 11 boards, and first-year Lydia Mordarski recorded a career-high 12 points.
