Dear Parents
The year has begun with great excitement at the launch of the new topics through the school. Our Year 11 and Year 13 students are not so excited about their mock exams but they are a necessary practice for their final IGCSE and IB exams at the end of the year.
We welcomed 14 new students to the school and such is the warm ethos of the school that friendships are already emerging.
We also warmly welcomed Ms Maddy, to teach alongside Ms Lynn in EY3 to support this growing year group
Chinese New Year Celebrations
We are all looking forward to celebrating the Chinese New Year and bringing in the year of the rabbit. This year, our Primary students who are studying Mandarin will be leading the festivities.
Students are invited to wear traditional Chinese costumes or dress in red for the performance day: The Primary performance will take place on Thursday January 19th at 8:45am. All parents are welcome to attend.
There will also be a Chinese Culture and Food Fair on Friday January 20th at 9:00am, which will be supported by our secondary students who are learning Mandarin. Parents are welcome to attend.
Vouchers will be on sale each morning at the main entrance and in the Accounts Office from Monday January 16th. The funds raised will be going to support Mercy House Foundation in Hua Hin ( http://www.huahinmedia.com/mercyhouse.php)
An Introduction to Ms Beccy Fox, newly appointed headteacher from August 2023.
“I am delighted to be joining HHIS in August, and working with the school community to lead it into its next chapter. I will be joined by my husband Kalo, and our son Charlie who will become a Year 8 student.
My own journey in education started in the East End of London many years ago, and I was tempted into International education by a post at the International School of the Seychelles in 1998. I have never looked back, and have subsequently worked in schools in Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, and currently, in Bangkok.
I bring to HHIS several years of international school leadership, including the Headship of Schools in Bali, Indonesia, and Hong Kong. I have worked with the English National Curriculum, Cambridge IGCSE and A Levels and all four IB Programmes – including, of course, the IB Diploma.
My Early Years roots of child-centred education has extended to my belief that successful learning in all age groups, from Early Years to Year 13, is student centred. Teacher-led, but student centred. The HHIS child centred philosophy of education, the community spirit, and the inspirational “i values”, exactly match my own. I am thrilled to have this amazing opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful school and look forward very much to getting to know everyone over the coming two terms, before taking over from Julie next August.

Musicians of the Month
HHIS students supporting English Language teaching at local Thai School
Last week Year 12 students visited Ban Nong Krathum primary school to offer English language reading support to P5 & P6 students. This is a school supported by the Bright Dawn Foundation based in the Hua Hin area. This was a great opportunity for our older students to share some of their language skills with others as part of the service element of their CAS studies.
An opening session with some games to help everyone feel more comfortable and get to know each other, was directed very well by Aim. Then small groups broke off to share their love of books and help the Primary students get practice in reading aloud with fluent English speakers. There was even time to share some food and play boardgames as a reward for an excellent morning's work.
Both groups of students enjoyed the morning's activities so we now aim to develop this into a regular reading and language support opportunity as well as engage in some reciprocal Eco-schools activities using the Ban Nong Krathum school farm. Mr Jeremy

ฉลองวันตรุษจีน
เราตั้งตารอคอยที่จะฉลองวันตรุษจีนสำหรับปีกระต่าย ในปีนี้ นักเรียนระดับชั้นประถมศึกษาที่เลือกเรียนวิชาภาษาจีน จะเป็นผู้นำในการเฉลิมฉลองครั้งนี้
ขอเรียนเชิญนักเรียนสวมเครื่องแต่งกายชุดจีน หรือชุดสีแดงสำหรับวันที่มีการแสดง โดยการแสดงของนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาจะจัดขึ้นในวันพฤหัสบดีที่ 19 มกราคม 2566 ตั้งแต่เวลา 8.45 น. ขอเรียนเชิญผู้ปกครองทุกท่านเข้าร่วมงานดังกล่าว
นอกจากนี้ เรายังจัดงานแฟร์ตรุษจีนในวันศุกร์ที่ 20 มกราคม 2566 ตั้งแต่เวลา 9.00 น. ซึ่งสนับสนุนการจัดงานโดยนักเรียนระดับชั้นมัธยมศึกษาที่เลือกเรียนวิชาภาษาจีน ขอเรียนเชิญผู้ปกครองทุกท่านเข้าร่วมงานดังกล่าว
คูปองจะจัดจำหน่ายในช่วงเช้าบริเวณทางเข้าประตูหลัก และในสำนักงานบัญชีตั้งแต่วันจันทร์ที่ 16 มกราคม 2566 เป็นต้นไป รายได้จากการจัดงานจะนำไปสนับสนุนและมอบให้แก่บ้านเมตตาในพื้นที่หัวหิน ( http://www.huahinmedia.com/mercyhouse.php )

“ดิฉันดีใจที่ได้ร่วมงานกับโรงเรียนนานาชาติหัวหินในเดือนสิงหาคมนี้ และจะทำงานร่วมกับชุมชนในโรงเรียนลำดับต่อไป ดิฉันจะเข้าร่วมงานพร้อมกับสามี Kalo และลูกชาย Charlie ที่จะเข้าเรียนในชั้น Y8
ประสบการณ์ด้านการศึกษาของฉันเริ่มต้นจากอีสต์เอนด์ในลอนดอนมาหลายปี และได้เข้าร่วมงานด้านการศึกษานานาชาติด้วยตำแหน่งในโรงเรียนนานาชาติ Seychelles เมื่อปี 1998 โดยฉันไม่เคยมองย้อนกลับไป และได้ทำงานในโรงเรียนหลายแห่งในมาเลเซีย อินโดนีเชีย ฮ่องกง และที่ปัจจุบันในกรุงเทพฯ

นักดนตรีประจำเดือน
ขอแสดงความยินดีแก่ Michelle (Y8) และ Phoenix (Y5) ที่ได้รับเลือกให้เป็นนักดนตรีประจำเดือน นักเรียนทั้งสองคนมีส่วนร่วมการร้องเพลงประสานเสียงในงานแสดงคริสต์มาส และยังคงสร้างแรงบันดาลใจแก่เพื่อนๆ ในชั้นเรียนของพวกเขา
นักแต่งเพลงประจำเดือนของเรา คือ Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart ผู้มีชื่อเสียงจาก ‘Eine kleine Nachtmusik’ และดนตรีจาก ‘The magic flute’ ซึ่งจะเปิดผ่านโรงเรียนในเดือนมกราคมนี้
นักเรียนสนับสนุนการสอนภาษาอังกฤษในโรงเรียนไทย
เมื่อสัปดาห์ที่ผ่านมา นักเรียนชั้น Y12 ได้ไปเยือนโรงเรียนบ้านหนองกระทุ่ม ซึ่งเปิดสอนในระดับชั้นประถมศึกษา เพื่อสนับสนุนการสอนวิชาภาษาอังกฤษด้วยการอ่านสำหรับนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาปีที่ 5 และ 6 โรงเรียนแห่งนี้ได้รับการสนับสนุนจากมูลนิธิ Bright Dawn ในพื้นที่หัวหิน นี่เป็นโอกาสที่ดีสำหรับนักเรียนชั้นมัธยมศึกษาที่ได้แบ่งปันทักษะทางด้านภาษาให้แก่นักเรียนไทย ซึ่งเป็นส่วนหนึ่งในการศึกษา CAS
เริ่มต้นการสอนด้วยเกมบางเกม เพื่อช่วยทุกคนให้รู้สึกสบายและรู้จักซึ่งกันและกัน ซึ่งจัดได้เป็นอย่างดีโดย Aim หลังจากนั้นแบ่งกลุ่มเล็กๆ เพื่อแบ่งปันหนังสือที่ชอบ และช่วยนักเรียนชั้นประถมศึกษาฝึกทักษะการอ่าน ด้วยผู้พูดที่มีทักษะภาษาอังกฤษอันดีเยี่ยม นอกจากนี้ ยังมีเวลาสำหรับการแบ่งปันอาหารบางส่วน และเล่นบอร์ดเกม โดยได้รับรางวัลจากงานในตอนเช้า
นักเรียน 2 กลุ่มสนุกสนานกับการทำกิจกรรมในช่วงเช้า ดังนั้น เราคาดหวังที่จะพัฒนาทักษะการอ่านและสนับสนุนโอกาสทางด้านภาษา รวมทั้งการมีส่วนร่วมในกิจกรรมเชิงอนุรักษ์ซึ่งกันและกันโดยใช้สวนของโรงเรียนบ้านหนองกระทุ่ม Mr Jeremy กล่าว
