Staples boys JV baseball v.s. Fairfield Ludlowe By Nile Jean '24

The Staples Wreckers JV baseball team lost 7-3 against Fairfield Ludlowe on Wednesday evening. The amazing game that took place on Wednesday afternoon was filled with excitement, cheering, and encouragement from both sides. One of the most important highlights of this game was when Fairfield made a huge comeback during the third and fourth inning, allowing the boys to win.

Before the game began, the Wreckers were cheering each other on in preparation to win. The game started off smoothly because both teams made early runs in the first inning. This had the entire audience at the edge of their seats, including the dugout, which was sitting on the sidelines cheering on their teammates.

The first three innings of the seven-inning game were very slow, with a few runners. The score at the time was 2-1 with Staples in the lead.

At the beginning of the 4th inning, the game was played very slowly, with no runners on the bases. A single run was scored by Staples.

The game began to get intense in the fifth inning, where Ludlowe scored three more points putting the score at 6-3. Halfway through the sixth inning, the Wreckers decided to switch their pitchers from Rhys Jamali '24 to Topher Cusa '23.

Though it was a loss for the Wreckers, they never gave up their triumphant spirit. After losing to Fairfield by four runs, the Staples’ JV baseball team assured their 10-8 record for their fourth to last game of the season.
