Ingoldsby Academy Update January 2022

We have had a busy start to the term with new singing and dancing projects in the making. It's great to see the pupils back in good spirits and ready to work hard. We'd like to thank you for your support last term and look forward to bringing many new and exciting opportunities in 2022.

Temporary suspension of confirmatory PCR tests in education and childcare settings

Those who have symptoms should still get a PCR. This only affects people who take precautionary LFT tests, either routinely as for staff or as a contact.

Education and childcare settings are not expected to trace contacts of a positive case as this will remain the responsibility of NHS Test and Trace. From yesterday, Tuesday 11 January, contact tracing is triggered once a positive LFD test is reported. So LFD results will need to be logged on the government site.

Coming up:

Santa Run

The Santa run will take place on Thursday 20th January in school for all pupils.

Key Stage 2 are taking part in the Royal Opera House project: Hansel and Gretel.

The performance takes place on Friday March 25th at Corby Cube Theatre (the same venue as the DRET Dance Festival) with professional orchestra accompaniment and conductor. It promises to be totally awe-inspiring for the children!

11+

We have sent out the parent information for the 11+. This applies to current year 5. The deadline for registrations to be received by the school is 31 March 2022 in order to be included for the tests which will now take place on Saturdays; 17 and 24 September 2022.

Joseph Production

Mrs Mawby has sent out the schedule for the Dance Club who signed up to be part of the Joseph Choir on behalf of Adam Slepowronski and the link to buy tickets to watch the production.

I attended the production of Jesus Christ Superstar a couple of years back and it was amazing. This is such a fantastic experience to be part of.

Notices/ Polite Reminders

Smart watches

Any watches that receive messages, have games or have the capability to take or receive images are not permitted to be worn in school for safeguarding reasons.

Please ensure that any alarms, notifications, vibrations or sounds are disabled on devices such as Fitbits or equivalent as they are disruptive in lessons.

We will not take responsibility for and loss or damage of such devices in school.

Toys

When children bring toys into school, they often get damaged, lost or cause a distraction in the classroom and arguments with friends/ peers.

Just this week, we have settled several disputes over small toys being shared amongst friends or becoming lost/ broken. Please explain to children that toys need to stay at home.

Lunches

Our school meals have improved this year, offering a variety of fruit and veg daily alongside the main dish and fresh cooked wholemeal bread.

We know that a healthy meal can positively affect classroom behaviour. As a school it is part of our responsibility to teach children about how to eat healthily.

Whilst many of our pupils already have a healthy packed lunch, some have a large amount of sugary and salty foods.

What should be in a school lunch box?

According to NHS choices, a balanced lunchbox should contain:

  • Starchy foods like bread, rice, potatoes or pasta.
  • Protein foods like meat, fish, eggs or beans.
  • A dairy item, like cheese or yogurt.
  • Vegetables or salad and a portion of fruit.

Please limit sugary/ salty treats to one per day.

Carpark

Please do not drive into the carpark to drop children off at the beginning of the day when foot traffic is high, i.e. after 8.15am . This is a safeguarding worry. In the past we have had near misses where parents are entering or exiting the carpark while children are arriving or leaving the premises. It really is better to be safe than sorry.

We are looking at better access to the school via pathways from the main road but in the meanwhile, either the side path from the main road or the carpark by walking behind the tyres may be used. Children are not permitted to walk across the carpark to an adult.

Term dates 2022-2023

Apologies for the delay in getting these out to you. We have had to consult with other providers and services which caused a delay.

Green- school open to pupils, purple- training days, pink- bank holidays, white- school holidays
