Dear prospective customer,

Perch, previously known as Grand Lake Coffeehouse, has been serving folks living around or visiting Lake Merritt for over a decade. The changes to the neighborhood and to Oakland as a whole over the years has required us to constantly adapt. We update our space and our menu regularly to fit the needs of our ever-changing customer base. It's how we have stayed in business. But the one thing we have not changed is our motto of customer service. Our motto has always been coffee without the coddle. We are fast, friendly, but never fake. If you're thinking of visiting us for the first time, please understand that we are here to caffeinate, not to validate, your existence. If you need something more out of a typical transactional interaction, Perch might not be the place for you. But if you're down to grab a drink, hang by the lake, and be relatively chill, then we think you'll like what we have to offer.
