Endress & Hauser Precision Personified

THE COMPOSITION

This was another satisfying job that encompassed many of the areas of photography that I specialise in. Alison from Endress & Hauser got in touch to ask that I shoot some content for the Ireland version of the company website. It would include some architectural shots, lifestyle, environmental and, of course, the obligatory headshots too. Endress have two offices in Ireland, in Carrigtwohill in Cork and Kill in Co.Kildare.

THE PHOTOSHOOT

The first part of this shoot was going to take place in Endress' office and lab in Carrigtwohill in Cork. I was required to shoot the office space which had recently been refurbished. I arrived down early in the morning and had a quick tour of the lab and office before the staff began their shift. This provided me with the opportunity to grab the internal images of the building.

The next room to shoot was filled with not a lot...except for a particularly powerful piece of measuring equipment...I'm no scientist so don't expect a full rundown here, suffice it to say, Endress must be very proud of it to give it its own room and so the image needed to reflect its importance.

In fairness, the guys who operate it spent some time explaining the intricacies of the machinery but sadly it fell on deaf ears. Give me a camera and I'll explain it inside out but this was a bit out of my comfort zone. Back to the photography and the next stage was to shoot some lifestyle and environmental shots. The staff were in situ now so a few scenarios were set up. Staff using the devices, team meetings, casual chatting. In addition they wanted a few Headshots both formal and informal too.

Headshots - Some formal and some not.

The next session was in Endress & Hauser's other HQ in Kill in Co.Kildare. It required something similar although there would be more emphasis on lifestyle images. They are based over two office blocks and I had a free run to work my way around the complex, shooting as I go.

This was a refreshing project, I had the freedom to work at my own pace but still under directive from the company.
