The Coutts Centre U of L Coutts Centre for Western Heritage - June 22, 2022

True to it's promise from my last visit the Iris were in full bloom, some were already beyond prime but isn't that always the way? The comings and the goings in a garden - it is after all, a living thing.

The Rose Garden

Oh My! The rose's were beginning to show off and the bee's were loving it. With multiple bees on a single blossom, doing what bees do, the garden was buzzing with activity.

Where once the allium reigned supreme were seed heads and salvia, holding the space for the roses that will follow.

It is appropriate that the wild Alberta rose make an appearance in the rose garden as well.

The Long Border & The Jelly Bean Garden

Then came the other reason for my visit - the Lupine. In all their wonderous colours! They were spectacular.

While the lupine were taking center stage the supporting cast of characters were holding up their share of the scene.

The Poppy Garden

As was the case when I visited last and saw the Iris and the Lupine about to show their finest, such was the case with this visit and the promise of Poppies to be.

The Peony Garden

A quick visit to the Peony Garden revealed a fine crop of cat mint and fern as well as a wee peek at the peonies getting ready to make an appearance.

It's time to make my way back to my car and get ready for a special treat! I get to come back here as an artist in residence! With a stay of three days I will be able to do walkabouts in the soft morning light or the gentle evening glow. I am so excited.

Until then - stay well everyone.
