Students at Heritage Middle School will be taking their celebration of Dr. Seuss to another level this weekend when they will be performing “Seussical the Musical.” The play, directed by Christopher Russoniello, is mostly based on “Horton Hears a Who!” during which Horton the Elephant tries to protect the people of Who-ville. The show features characters like The Cat in the Hat, Jojo and Gertrude McFuzz. Performances are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, March 24 and March 25, and 2 p.m. Sunday, March 26. Mike Yesenosky is the musical director.
The cast includes: Jenny Barbag as Jojo, Jessica Woodlee as The Cat in the Hat, Jaina Jallow as Mayzie McBird, Quinn Davidson as Horton, and Carly Margolis as Gertrude McFuzz. Diego Bolonas is Mr. Mayor, Lexi Algazy is Mrs. Mayor, Bryan Tsymbal is the General, Maya Kedar-Mehl is Sour Kangaroo, and Sofia Ferreira is Baby Roo. Yertle the Turtle is played by Matthew Warren, The Grinch is played by Sofia Frade, and Vlad Vladikoff is played by Faith Tran. The Bird Girls are played by Alex Simon, Lucy Schnaper, Madison Lysek, and Robin Burger. The Wickersham Brothers are played by Natalie Silberman, Sharan Peshin and Colin Eagen. The Whos are played by Audrey Schilling, Olivia Berreiro, and Sia Gbonda. Katarzyna Swierczynski, Lauren Altman, Lydia Lin, and Nicole Rojas play jungle creatures, Hunches, and other ensemble roles.
Izzi Rosenstark and Erin Kendrick are stage managing the production. Tickets are $5 and are available at the door.
