Welcome back to Summer Term

So this week marks the start of our final term together and I can’t quite believe we’re here already!

In prep for our Year 2 SATs we have started some maths revision. First up was some place value and addition and subtraction. We completed lots of practical activities and learn pt how to complete some tricky columns in our addition.

In English we imagined we went our journey from Edinburgh to Nairobi. We looked out the window on each part of our journey and describes what we could see, smell, hear, touch, or taste in each location. We then wrote a recount on our journey.

We continued our topic of habitats in science by thinking back to our trip before half-term and looking for mini beasts. We discussed micro habitats and drew pictures of some we could remember and then matched them to their micro habitat.

Some of us also had the opportunity to go to science club at The Centre for Life this week. We completed some experiments to test our senses. We smashed some oranges for their smell, made potions using acids and alkalis to see their colours, we made smile to feel, and then we made a big noise with fire! It was so much fun.

We also started a new DT topic this week. We are going to make some constructions with Lego. To begin, we have experimented with 6 bricks. It was really fun and we really enjoyed the challenge.

We also looked at rites of passage in RE this week. We learnt that this meant it is a sign/ ritual of growing up. We sorted pictures into what we thought some rites of passage were.
