Eight below literary essay

Eight below trailer

Eight below is about eight dogs (Buck, Shadows, Max, Maya, Truman, Dewey, Shorty, and Old Jack). This movie is inspired by a true story and it was made in Antarctica which was directed by Frank Marshall in 17 February 2006.

In this literary essay I will be discussing:
  • Important event
  • Important characters
  • Important setting
The important event :

I think that the important event of the story is the climax of the film which is the snowstorm in Antarctica where Jerry and his crew had to go because of the snowstorm and also because Doc needed some medical attention and they had to leave the dog behind because they didn't have any space for the dogs but unfortunately they couldn't back because the snowstorm had gotten strong so the dogs was stuck in the storm nothing but each other for support. I also thought that the ending part was important because that was when Jerry and the crew found transport to Antarctica and went to rescue the dogs but went home with pain of one less dog in the crew.

The theme shown here is the survival, trust and friendship theme. Survival theme was shown in the snowstorm where they had to find food for themselves. Trust was shown when Jerry promised he will come back for them and take them home. Friendship was shown when the dogs looked out for each other when they were in trouble and when they were hurt.

I feel that in this two event it shows that how strong Jerry and the dogs bond are.

The important character:

I think that the main character is the eight dogs in the film because the title does say "Eight Below" and I think that the film was about the eight dogs surviving in the snowstorm and the dangers that was out there and the obstacle that the dogs had to face in that 175 days, they had nothing but each other.

The theme used in this is teamwork and friendship, for 175 days the dog had to survive with each other and the and help out each other at the worst.

I think that the dogs are quite intelligent and that's what show in the snowstorm.

The important setting:

I think that the main setting is Antarctica because Antarctica is a very cold place and there is a very bad storm coming. Doc is here to find the Mercury Meteorite around the winter time and in the hunt for it Doc breaks his leg and falls into the ice, in the mission to save Doc, Jerry gets a bad cough and frostbites so they have to go back to get proper medical attention and to dogs are stuck in the snowstorm.

The theme used in this is is survival and danger because in the snowstorm Jerry, Doc and the eight dogs had a hard time surviving in the cold and there is lots of thing yet to be discovered in Antarctica and there might be lots of dangerous creature and objects there.

Conclusion:

so this is the three main point that I thought was important in the film.
