COVID-19 Vaccine Rollout

Inauguration Support
Approximately 100 Vermont Army National Guard Soldiers supported the presidential inauguration in Washington, D.C., and are continuing to support security around the Capitol.
The element from Vermont joins nearly 20,000 National Guard service members deployed to provide security, communications, medical evacuation, logistics, and safety support to district and federal agencies. The public’s safety is the top priority of the National Guard. Service members will meet the requirements of the supported civil authorities, posturing with protective equipment, weapons and live ammunition.
All service members deployed in support of Operation Capitol Response will follow COVID-19 protocols in accordance with Center for Disease Control guidelines and may quarantine upon their return from the Capitol region.
158th FW Weapon System Validation
Airmen, aircraft and support equipment from the 158th Fighter Wing departed the week of Jan. 14 to Tyndall Air Force Base, Florida, to participate in a weapon system validation exercise.
“Everyone is excited for the opportunity to take the Vermont Air National Guard on the road,” said Lt. Col. Brian D. Sherry, 158th Fighter Wing plans officer. “This is all part of the evolution to achieve F-35 combat readiness status. We’ll all be tested across a wide spectrum of tactics in preparation for real world deployments.”
172nd Law Enforcement Detachment Deploys
The 172nd Law Enforcement Detachment departed from Burlington International Airport Jan. 26 for Fort Bliss, Texas, as the first step of their deployment in support of Operation Freedom’s Sentinel under U.S. European Command.
“Just know that we’re here for you. We’ve got resources,” said Maj. Gen. Greg Knight, Vermont's adjutant general, referring to Vermont National Guard Family Programs. “We’ll be here when you need us, so don’t hesitate to call.”
