Gallstones occur in dogs, but, the bile in dogs is different from that in humans in that it has low cholesterol saturation
(when) there was a numerous attempts on discovering this disease. first two Italian doctors in the late 1600's practiced on animals, their goal was to see if the animals could live without a gallbladder. this discovery was forgotten. another attempt happen in 1800's by a 27 year old director of Lazarus hospital in Berlin. He performed a cholecystectomy on a man who had suffered from gallstones for 16 years, effectively curing his painful condition overnight.
(what) Gallstones occur when cholesterol and other substances found in bile form stones. Bile is important for the digestion of fat. Gallstones are small, hard deposits that form in the gallbladder, a sac-like organ that lies under the liver in the upper right side of the abdomen. When the stone passes from the gallbladder into the small intestine or become stuck in the billiard duct it can cause pain Most people with gallstones (about 80%) never have symptoms.
(where) Gallstones form in the gallbladder near the liver. The first gallstones were discovered by an Egyptian dynasty from 1085 - 945 BC although it has possibly been happening since before that. You can have the stones removed or you can have surgery to remove part of the gallbladder . Even though they were found early ,Carl Langerhans performed the first cholecystectomy in 1882 almost 2000 years after. Now the surgery has become more common and is performed 600,000 times in the U.S. alone.
