Term 3b, week 3 Health and wellbeing week

This week was WEST Health and Wellbeing Week.

First of all, we visited NUCASTLE where we participated in various activities with other Year 6 pupils from Canning Street Primary and Broadwood Primary.

It allowed us to meet and work with other pupils who are moving to the same secondary school as us.

We played football and handball tournaments on the roof top pitch.

We also participated in workshops in the classrooms.

In one of them, we had to consider the amount of time we spend looking at a screen.

Some of us were surprised when we saw the actual amount of time we spend looking at a screen.

We discussed other activities we could do instead of looking at a screen all of the time and how this would support our sleep patterns.

Throughout the day, some of us took part in a first aid workshop and a friendship workshop where we considered the good and bad qualities which make a friend.

Back at school, we had visitors from Zone West and they began to talk about our transition to secondary school.

We explored and discussed what we are excited about and what we are worried about for moving into Year 7.

We did some role play where we explored some of our worries.

In class, we continued some of the work we did in the friendship workshop at NUCASTLE.

We shared the positive qualities which we think we have to help us be a good friend. This will help us when making new friends at secondary school.

We used these qualities to make a ‘Friendship Catcher’.

The finished products were great.

Finally, Sienna was our Star of the Week. She was awarded this for being a good all round model pupil. She is a pleasure to teach. Well deserved Sienna.
