Flashback: Second Semester By: Jackson Williams

January

COVID-19 cases spiked rapidly as the Omicron variant surged through the country and the world quickly. This caused many M-A students to catch the virus and miss the first couple of days coming back from winter break.
The San Francisco 49ers pushed through the playoffs as the sixth seed all the way to the NFC Championship. However the dream was stopped by their rival team, the Los Angeles Rams, who went on to win the Super Bowl.

February

Basketball games opened up to the public after the Omicron surged slowed. The Bears would later go on to win the Central Coastal Section Division Championship in Salinas, which capped off a historic season for the program.
Boys Soccer made it to the Championship Game for their Central Coastal Section Division, falling to Sacred Heart Prep. Despite the loss, the Bears had a great season with a record of 8-7-4.

March

Wordle became an uber popular at the beginning of March. The guessing game gives you six chances to guess a five letter word. If a letter turns grey then it is not in the word, if it turns yellow then it's in the word, but not in the right spot, and if it's green the letter is in the word and in the right spot.
Masks became optional on March 12th. Students and staff were being strongly recommended to keep them on, but the state deemed it safe for masks to not be worn inside classrooms.

April

The whole school was surprised with a spring rally which consisted of a performance from the dance team, the announcing of the new 12th man, a campus aid kart race, and much more the entertain the school on a beautiful Friday afternoon. It was the first time their had been a spring rally in the past few years.
Prom! The Juniors and Seniors took on the San Francisco City Hall for their 2022 prom dance. The grand venue provided students many different features that allowed them to have a blast. Thank you Leadership!

May

The Supreme Court leaked opinion on Roe v. Wade case that involves reversing the ban on abortion. Currently, 13 states have trigger laws and 13 more and likely to enstate a ban against abortion.
Awareness Week! The first week of May was filled with lunchtime events to spread awareness towards many different topics. Monday was for mental health, Tuesday was for the LGBTQIA+ community, Wednesday was for the environment, Thursday was Cinco de Mayo (pictured above), and Friday was for Ukraine as the green was surrounded with Ukrainian flags and blue and yellow balloons tied to benches.

SENIORS! The time has come. The last four fun, stressful, but memorable years are ticking down. Graduation is right around the corner. With everyone going their own ways, graduation will be a very emotion-filled morning with celebration throughout the day. Be sure to make these last couple of weeks/days ones that will last for a lifetime and remember: once a bear, always a bear.
