Headteacher's Message
Dear Parents and Carers,
I do hope you and your families are well?
There are now only five weeks left before we break for the summer holidays, (Friday 21st July at 1.30pm), and we are busy preparing for the end of the academic year and the new one, which will begin on Tuesday 5th September at 9.00am for our pupils. The new year will bring us the challenge of the ‘new build’ starting and this will mean we may need to change some of the routines we have established in School. We will be working with the building teams to ensure they create as least disruption as possible for the School community.
We have planned for a range of activities for pupils in these last 5 weeks, including a KS3 Festival, a fun sports afternoon for all pupils and classes end of year trips; all great activities for pupils to celebrate their successes this year. A key event takes place in 2 weeks’ time, the School Summer Fair on July 1st from 1pm to 3pm. It would be lovely to see you in attendance with your families and supporting the School at this event.
On Friday 30th June we will have our leavers’ service and celebration for the pupils who officially leave us at this time. It will be a sad occasion in many ways, but we will certainly celebrate the pupil achievements with them before they leave.
We also start our transition work for September in the next couple of weeks, when we welcome into School the parents of pupils who will join SJV in September. We look forward to welcoming the children and their parents who begin their journey with us at SJV.
The collation of our annual reports is going well and we are planning to send the pupils' reports home to you week beginning 10th July. It is certainly a busy time for us all in school and we appreciate, as always, the positive behaviour and cooperation of our pupils and the continued support of their parents and carers.
Have a great weekend,
Mr A Moloney, Headteacher
.

Team SJV were placed in Group A for the tournament and played matches of Kwick Cricket against Rumworth and Spring Brook. Our Catholic School
"Jesus is the bread of life for our families. Let us be united to Jesus, nourished by daily prayer and by listening to the Word of God" Pope Francis
The Gospel reminds us that a life built with prayer provides us with all the sustenance we need. This has been our spiritual focus this week.
Here at SJV prayer, worship and gospel values underpin all that we do, these values are foundational. We want to serve others and help our children and young people to succeed. Within our Catholic school staff continue to celebrate with a weekly reflection and Mass. We share God’s love, comfort and support with one another. We are preparing our Leaver's Service, which will take place on Fri 30th June, it’s a bitter sweet moment for us all. We know that the message of love and support will have taken root with our leavers and we will be here to support them on the next stage of their journey.
Class 2 had their retreat at the Just Youth Centre this week with Father Nick. They had so much fun they really enjoyed their time together!
As this Newsletter goes out we will have had a significant event. We hosted 'Come Dine with us' allowing us to serve a delicious meal to displaced people within our local community. This was hosted by the chaplaincy team leaders, Father Nick and I, as part of our 'solidarity with the poor' and our work around Laudato Si'. More about this next week. It is really important to us that, as a school, we welcome everyone into our school family community.
We continued looking all at the different world-wide religions. Our children & young people researched topics they would like to know more about, allowing them to be in control of their own learning.
Help us to serve!
We are asking for donations of old sports kit. These donations will be sent to our partner school over in Ghana through our link with Fr Nick.
Donations we are looking for: sports tops, sport shorts, tracksuit tops/bottoms, sport footwear (football boots / trainers) If you are able to make a donation, please could they be brought into school and handed to Mr Foden.
