MMHS Counseling Newsletter october 2023

October is an exciting month for Counselors!! We have the opportunity to work with all of our seniors on their college applications during our UCAW (Utah College Application Week) event. Term 1 is also ending on October 18th so we encourage all students to work hard at this time to finish the term strong.

Parents, please take note of our 2023/2024 Class Change Policy. We are still getting requests for class changes this late in the term from students and parents. Class Changes ended on August 17th and will open up again sometime in December for 2nd semester changes. Remember we do not do class changes after mid-term or at the term break.

Parents, remember as we complete first term that any questions regarding your student's grades need to be directed to their teachers. Many parents want to make appointments the last week of the term with their student's Counselor to discuss their student's grades, instead of contacting teachers. You can email teachers anytime and work with them regarding specific assignments, tests, etc.

MMHS students have the opportunity to earn the Seal of Biliteracy, which is an award given to students who demonstrate proficiency in English and in one or more world languages (including Navajo or Ute). Any grade level can start the application process, however students will not be fully awarded until graduation. Students who earn the Seal of Biliteracy will receive a certificate, a seal on their diploma (at graduation), cords for graduation, and it will be listed on their transcript! Students who are interested in applying can find more information here: Nebo School District: Seal of Biliteracy
