The Siege of Savannah also known as the Second Battle of Savannah was fought from September 16 through October 20 in 1779. The battle was between the colonial people and the British (the colonial people included the French) . The cause of the battle was to retake Savannah which Lieutenant-Colonel Archibald Campbell had captured the year before. This battle was not only consisting of British colonists and French colonists but natives and slaves too against the British. In the end the British won and only had a loss of 155 soldiers while the colonists lost 948. This win allowed the British soldiers to keep control of Savannah until 1782.
