ITA Arthur Ashe Leadership Award
Hrudaya Shah from Tyler Junior CollegeĀ has been named the 2023 ITA Arthur Ashe Leadership Award winner.
During her time at Tyler Junior College, Shah has found success on the court, in the classroom, and in the community. With a 4.00 GPA, she was on the President and Dean's list for both 2021-22 and 2022-23 academic school years.
On top of being a great teammate and leader, she has been a part of many community events including events such as the Tyler Type 1 Tennis Night, Hope Open volunteering, reading at the Rice Elementary Read-a-thon, and volunteering at the Apache Pro Am.
Shah continually remains a consistent leader for her team. In a typical junior college program, there are a lot of changes that occur often due to students coming and going so often. Shah has brought about a consistent attitude of service to teammates and others around her and always with a smile. She competes hard and works hard in everything she does.
Shah was a part of the 2022 NJCAA National Championship Women's Team.
A Letter FromĀ Head Coach Dash Connell
The Apache Family is so proud of Hrudaya Shah and her achievement of winning the Arthur Ashe Leadership and Sportsmanship Award. She is the perfect example of a student athlete that has the desire to improve herself and others around her.
During her time at Tyler Junior College, she has shown patience and kindness to those around her. She has been very dedicated to her classwork and her tennis game as well. She fought to improve her tennis, but was always able to represent her school with great honor. She also found time to benefit the community around her and also teammates.
