Glorify God, Touch Lives Communiqué :: JANUARY 2021

“The Future is as bright as the promises of God!”

Hi everyone,

A Blessed New Year to all of you and your loved ones.

The Future is as bright as the promises of God!!!

It’s not just the end of 2020!!!

January brings much more than just the end of 2020. It brings a new year with new opportunities and new possibilities for God to change our lives and the lives of those around us. Each new year brings new opportunities for faith and service to our Savior. While many will seek to make new resolutions, as a church we ask God for a new vision—a vision for bringing salvation through Christ to our world.

We must not be paralyzed by the many uncertainties that the COVID 19 Pandemic has created. There is still….

  • Unanswered questions, mysteries
  • Unsolved problems
  • Unresolved confusion
  • Uncertain projections

We must move on and trust that God through time will bring greater clarity, direction and needed breakthroughs for us and the world around us.

1. We need to see 2021 from a high vantage point (Deut 1:6-7)

“The Lord our God spoke to us in Horeb, saying: ‘You have dwelt long enough at this mountain. Turn and take your journey, and go…”

Mountains in the Bible always symbolize the place of revelation and communion as clearly reflected by the life of Moses. Commit yourself to give time to be holy, get alone with God with focus and spiritual hunger for His Presence. As Moses said in Exod 33:15 “If Your Presence does not go with us, do not bring us up from here”

2. We must be ready for the different terrains (Deut 1:7)

“…go to the mountains of the Amorites, to all the neighboring places in the plain, in the mountains and in the lowland, in the South and on the seacoast, to the land of the Canaanites and to Lebanon, as far as the great river, the River Euphrates”

Be ready spiritually, mentally and physically for the different natural and spiritual terrains that you will face in 2021. There will be times of highs and lows, hardships and ease, safety and danger. Do not be shocked and choosy. The grace of God is available for all terrains. 2 Kg 20:28, God is the “God of mountain and valley...”, and in 2 Cor 12:9-10, he says, "My grace is sufficient for you..."

3. We must move forward with courage, authority and strength. (Jos 1:3-7) because God has already given 2021 to you not to the Pandemic. (v3)

“Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory”.

Authority because He is with you and never leaves you v5.

“No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you”

Strength because His Word will never fail you v 6-7.

“Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go”

The year 2020 will become a marker for history. For certain, it will be a marker that includes sickness, death, and dismal economic realities. But it will also be a marker for new opportunities. You are about to see God do an incredible work in thousands of lives and churches in 2021. We pray that it will include you and Metro Tabernacle.

Your Pastors,

Pastor Ong Sek Leang & Pastor Nancy Ong

My name is Wilson Gill and my wife is Sana Elwen. We have two children, ages 4 and 6. We started coming to Metro Tabernacle in 2016 and have been blessed by the worship and sermons, and especially, the presence of God.

During the MCO in March 2020, I was feeling depressed as I could not work, and there was no income to pay the rent and feed my family. But we turned to God in prayer. Somehow, someone (maybe sister Anne) gave my contact number to Bro. David. He helped us a lot. At that time, we were renting a room in a condo and there were about 10 other men staying there. My wife and children were confined inside the room and most of the time, we did not have the freedom to cook our meals. I was constantly thinking of getting a separate place for my family. But how could I move out? At one time, I did not even have any money to take my children to the doctor’s, but someone helped us pay the doctor’s fee.

In the meantime, Bro. David also helped us to find a place, and the deposit and rental was paid by Metro Tabernacle. It was the blessing of God! My wife and children were happy. I felt this could happen only because someone was praying for us.

But as a father, I was still worrying about how was I to manage the rental and other expenses without a job. I started hunting for jobs online and asked around for job openings. At the same time, Bro. David and Pastor Eunice helped us to sell nasi briyani and Hope Kitchen provided me with the ingredients. Then through online applications, by the grace of God, I managed to get a job. Hallelujah! So now it has been about 3 months that I have been working as a station operator at a petrol station. Although I have no savings, I am happy to earn enough to pay the rent and feed my children.

We are thankful for the monthly food provision from Metro Tabernacle. It means a lot to us. Thank you, Pastor Ong, Bro. David and every staff of Metro Tabernacle who has helped us. God’s blessings upon all of you! Please remember me and my family in your prayers.
