Weekly Newsletter 21st January 2022

Welcome to West Meadows Weekly!

The children (and staff) looked amazing today dressed in their rock and pop outfits for our relaunch of TT Rockstars and with some truly fabulous hair styles! Please keep encouraging your children to log on at home to practice – just a few minutes each day will make a massive difference. I have more and more children each week coming to try to earn one of their multiplication badges and I can see how much the children are improving in their fast mental recall of their tables so a big well done! I also want to take the opportunity this week to welcome Miss Jones back to West Meadows following her maternity leave. I know we are all delighted to have her back.

One Way System

Thank you for supporting us in reintroducing our one way system this week which will remain for at least the next 2 weeks. In the morning, can everyone please enter up the ramp then walk around the playground and exit via the Year 6 classroom. At the end of the day, could parents please come in through the car park and past the Year 6 classroom and then down the ramp with their children. Thank you very much for your support.

Barnsley Enterprise Competition:

Next week on Tuesday and Wednesday some of our children will be participating in this year’s Barnsley Enterprise Competition. The children will get to work in groups across classes to design and promote a real product. The children will then have to present their ideas back to a panel of judges. This is a great opportunity for children to develop their team work, speaking and listening skills and get creative. The winning team from each day will go through to the Barnsley Enterprise Final at The Metrodome. We look forward to seeing our budding ‘Apprentices’ in action next week.

communication

Could all parents please ensure that they (or someone on their child’s contacts list) is easily contactable during the day in case of emergencies and that contact details are always kept up to date. Thank you.

covid guidance update

As you will be aware, guidance on Covid measures have changed recently. If your child now tests positive for Covid 19 on a lateral flow test, they now no longer need a PCR test to confirm this. A PCR is still required if your child has Covid symptoms but tests negative on a lateral flow test. You can now also test your child on days 5 and 6 of their isolation (with day 0 being the first day of symptoms or the day of the positive test). If they test negative on both days, they can come back into school from day 6. You will still need to report any positive cases on the GOV.UK website at Report a COVID-19 rapid lateral flow test result - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) and please ring the school office to let us know why your child is absent.

Attendance matters

Every Monday we will celebrate our children’s achievements, both in school and at home, including their attendance in school. Good attendance is vital for your child’s education and means they can make the most of all aspects of school life.
