I like to challenge myself, ask questions and think critically about the world around me. I believe that our role as educators is to foster that love of learning in our students. To help them uncover their passions, inquire and construct their own understandings.

Over the past two years I have had the opportunity to work on the Program and Innovation team at the Simcoe County District School Board, facilitating professional learning opportunities for educators. In this role I have advocated for a transformation in assessment practices to better align with the Growing Success policy document. A main focus has been to develop innovative ways to capture triangulated evidence to increase the validity, reliability and fairness of assessment data. Through a number of board wide collaborative inquiries I have seen incredible changes in teacher practice with an increased focus on providing rich descriptive feedback in the service of student learning. In my time with the Program and Innovation team I have worked extensively to promote technology enabled learning environments that move beyond being digitally-infused spaces, to creating thinking classrooms where digital tools enhance the learning opportunities. I am a Google Certified educator and eagerly look for new digital and tech tools to support and engage learners.
