Bridging the Gender Gap
- Financial inclusion is a key driver to increase women’s economic empowerment & gender equality #2016FIF
- 60% of women say having a mobile phone saves money http://fiforum.us #2016FIF #GlobalDev
- Financial inclusion supports @USAID’s gender policy, ↑ equal access to resources, wealth, opportunities & services. #2016FIF
- More than 50% of financially excluded ppl are women. What actions can we take to financially include all? #2016FIF http://fiforum.us
- More than 1/2 the world’s unbanked population are women. It's time to focus on financial inclusion for women. #2016FIF
- Financial inclusion for women is a step towards gender equality. When women have access to financial services it means they can control household assets, increase household consumption, improve food security, and invest in income generating activities. #2016FIF
- Financial inclusion for women means control of their own finances and agency over their lives and the lives of their children. But today, women make up more than half of the world’s unbanked population. We believe it’s time to start financially including women and paving the way towards equality. #2016FIF
Financial Inclusion as an Enabler
- According to @McKinsey digital #financialservices could boost GDP of emerging economies by 6%. #2016FIF
- Smart financial services makes society safer. In #Haiti @BetterThan_Cash found mobile money reduced theft in cash transfers by 50% #2016FIF
- Digital financial inclusion = security. In Haiti @BetterThan_Cash found 82% of beneficiaries felt mobile money was more secure than cash #2016FIF
- Why are digital payments critical for financial inclusion? Digital payments accelerate financial inclusion by creating lasting, inclusive economic infrastructure that improves governance, creates transparency, reduces theft, and provides a foundation for innovative business models that offer life-enhancing services to underserved communities. This is why we believe in inclusive digital financial services. #2016FIF
- Smart financial services save the public money. According to McKinsey, the public sector could gain $110 billion per year by reducing leakage in public spending and tax collection. This is why financial services matter. #2016FIF
Agricultural, Rural, and Sustainable Financial Development
- Financial inclusion means growth. In #Malawi, farmers with financial services for savings increased investment and boosted crop output. #2016FIF
- In #India poverty dropped when bank branches opened in rural areas. Inclusive financial services fight poverty. #2016FIF @USAID @USTreasury
- Mobile money impacts food security by helping farmers take out flexible, low-cost loans to grow their farms #2016FIF
- Many rural people have to travel days, weeks, or even months to get to their closest bank. They are forced to take off work, leave their families, and pay for expensive travel just to pick up cash or their salaries. Smart financial services like mobile money help people access their bank account wherever their phone is, saving them time, money and resources. For rural individuals, smart financial services are life-changing. #2016FIF
- For rural farmers, bank accounts can be transformative. When farmers have access to smart financial services, it means they can take out flexible loans, grow their businesses, and increase their output- creating more food for their communities. Smart financial services helps work towards zero hunger while boosting economic growth. We look forward to discussing steps towards financial inclusion at #2016FIF.
Reaching the Ultra Poor
- Financial Inclusion gives poor families access to affordable financial tools = better, healthier & stable lives: #2016FIF
- Financial Inclusion Forum addresses the role of #financialinclusion in the lives of the ultra-poor #EndPoverty #2016FIF
- We’re committed to extending financial services to the very poor & laying the groundwork for wide-scale economic growth #2016FIF
- Globally, 2 billion people lack access to formal financial services. A disproportionate share of these people are poor. Financial inclusion gives poor families access to affordable financial tools that makes financial transactions cheaper, more secure and transparent, and helps them weather severe financial shocks. This is why we care about inclusive financial services for all. #2016FIF
- What tools work best to address financial literacy and extreme poverty? #2016FIF discusses best practices and challenges ahead #finclusion http://fiforum.us
Humanitarian Assistance
- In #Nepal households with free bank accounts spent 20% more on education. #2016FIF
- Bank accounts mean #resilience against natural disasters. #2016FIF | @USAID @USTreasury
- Financial Inclusion helps poor families weather severe financial shocks & lead more resilient lives #2016FIF
- Digital payments can help people in crisis access financial services. With digital payments, a refugee traveling the long distance from a wartorn home to a camp still can access their bank account. Digital payments serve as a bridge between immediate humanitarian response, long-term resilience and economic empowerment. #2016FIF
- Innovative digital financial services are being created to help people in the throes of a crisis. In natural disasters, digital stipends can help individuals access much needed resources. Digital financial services for refugees can help them rebuild their lives. What are the best examples of digital services for humanitarian assistance? #2016FIF
