Newsletter 16th July 2021

What another fantastic year, even with the ups and downs of lockdowns and remote learning part two, I would like to thank you all for your continued support and say a huge well done to all of the children and staff for being super stars throughout.

There is a real sense of community and that is what makes Galley Hill such a special school.

What a year!

School life

Some amazing work and celebrations in school for our final week! What a week and lots of celebrations! Hopefully they all had a great last day - whether at home or in school!

uniform

As we get ready for September, a few people have asked about school uniform with the old logo on. When we launched the new logo, it was always done with the intention of it not costing anyone any more money. At the time we said that if you have clothing that still fits and has the old logo on, that is absolutely fine to wear, please don't go and but new just for the logo.

Wellies are being added to the uniform list for September as well. these will be stored outside so that the children keep their shoes clean when they are on the field in the wet autumn conditions. Water proofs would also be great. We are going to but some for the really muddy areas, but if children could have their own to keep in school as well - it means they can keep clean and dry. The aim is to stay outside in all weather next year as we continue our OPAL journey - no such thing as bad weather! (We shall see how bad it needs to get before we come back in!)

Covid

If you are self isolating or have tested positive please contact us via the e-mail address: covid@galleyhillprimary.co.uk

After today it moves to NHS track and trace, which at the minute means when we return there will be no more bubbles. We await any further guidance and will keep you up to date with all changes for September before we return, ensuring we can give you the most up to date information that we can.

Finally

Firstly, on behalf of all the staff thank you for all your support this year. thank you also for all the kind gifts and cards and messages. The support means so much to us all, and we will continue to put the children at the centre of all our decisions as we move into the next academic year.

Today is the last day that Miss Pass will be in the office working at Galley Hill. It has been fantastic having her in school for the past 18 months and we have kindly borrowed her from the Trust central team, to where she is returning. She has been a huge part of the school community and would like to thank her for all of her hard work. We will still see her around I am sure. I have also told her to get ready for lots of emails from myself asking where everything, so she might be visiting sooner than she expected!

It is also the last day that Miss Edwards will be working in Wrap Around. She is moving into the world of teaching and will be training at Galley Hill - so it is not a goodbye, in fact we will be seeing more of her. A big thank you for being part of the team to set up the Wrap around at Galley Hill, which has been so valuable for so many families. I am pleased to announce that Miss Pickerill will be working in Breakfast and after school club from September.

We will send curriculum information for the new year when we start on 1st September, this will give every year group overviews for the year as well as the overarching values for each half term for the whole school.

I hope that you all have a fantastic summer holiday. I will keep you up to date with any changes with guidance as we get closer to the school start eg start times and end times and groupings. See you all on September 1st!

I wish all of year 6 the very best in their new ventures, you are always a part of the school community and welcome back at anytime #alwaysteamgalleyhill.

Take care and stay safe,

Mr Anthony McGeeney
