The Weston Weekly May 26, 2022

It is hard to believe we have wrapped up another school year! Thank you to our families for a wonderful year. I am very proud of the work the Weston students and staff accomplished this year. We also had a lot of fun along the way. We hope you have an enjoyable summer.

Last week we celebrated our Weston Teacher of the Year, our certified & classified Peer Appreciation award winners, and years of service awards. It is one of my favorite events at Weston.

ReadUp (United Way)

The United Way of Central Indiana &. Greenfield-Central partner each year for a third grade ReadUp program. Volunteer Tutors donate their time to connect with a group of our third graders by reading alongside a Weston student. At the end of year we always have an end of year breakfast to celebrate the accomplishments of our young readers & recognize the dedication of our tutors and the significant impact they are making on our students and the future of GC. If you are interested in being a ReadUp tutor for the 22/23 school year, please email Jamie Mayberry at jmayberry@gcsc.k12.in.us

Mrs. Mayberry, ReadUp Coordinator, and our third grade readers.
Our Weston ReadUp participants & their tutors. They truly made a difference in these students' lives this year.

Sports, Clubs & Community Involvement

Social Work Corner ~ Mrs. Miller

With so many tragic things happening in our world, your child(ren) may ask you questions. I found this article from NPR to give some good advice to parents about what to say/do. https://www.npr.org/2019/04/24/716704917/when-the-news-is-scary-what-to-say-to-kids

Community Resources:

If your student or family has any need of community resources this summer, and you need some ideas about where to go for assistance, please email me and I will respond as soon as I am able. My email is temiller@gcsc.k12.in.us (Terry Miller).

Free school supplies will be available at various community events this summer and at the beginning of the school year.
