Copper belongs to the group of transition metals. A freshly exposed surface of pure copper has a reddish orange color. Pure copper is soft and can be drawn into wire or hammered into desired shapes. Copper is shiny in most cases unless the polish is matte but copper is not near as shiny as gold or silver. Copper by itself is not reactive but if mixed with nitric acid it is. Copper has two naturally occurring isotope they are copper-63 and copper-65. The percent abundance for copper-63 is 69.15% and the percent abundance of copper-65 is 30.85%.
