Weekly Schedule

This Week @LarsonMS

COVID Update

For the week of May 15, LMS had 8 student cases of COVID. We do ask that you continue to closely monitor your student for any potential symptoms or test when exposed. We do continue to have a supply of test kits available for pickup in our office.

Mrs. Murphy Wins Award!

Special congratulations to LMS Orchestra teacher Mrs. Claire Murphy who was named MSBOA District 16 Orchestra Teacher Of The Year. Congratulations Mrs. Murphy!

8th Grade Portfolio Interviews

Eighth graders recently completed their Portfolio Interviews. Students created websites with artifacts of their authentic middle school learning. They then practiced interview skills to participate in a mock interview with volunteer professionals in the Troy community. Our 8th graders were really impressive, as usual. Special thanks to Mr. Heugh and Mrs. Scott for organizing this special opportunity for our students.

Final PTO Meeting Wednesday

Please plan to join us at our last 21-22 PTO meeting via Zoom. (Info below) We will conduct elections for the 22-23 school year and hear a Spring District update from Dr. Machesky.

Rebel Innovators Shine at Henry Ford

Molly LaBay (8th grade), Preisha Mitra (7th grade), and Noah Zimmerman (7th grade) advanced from the Wayne State University regional level Invention Convention to the Michigan Invention Convention at The Henry Ford. Overall, there were over 1300 entries statewide with only 150 projects advancing to the state competition. Preisha Mitra, who received the top overall score for the WSU regional event, won third place in the middle school category of the state competition! These students created their inventions and pitches in Larson’s Innovation Incubator elective class. They dedicated many hours during and after school to developing their inventions and presentations. Way to go Rebel innovators!
