I first saw Electroluminescent Wire at the 1998 Burning Man Festival in Nevada. A performance group had drawn the outline of a horse on the side of a bicycle.

What made this remarkable was that the horse would appear to run as the rider rode through the desert. They had sequenced frames together to create an animation of a running horse.
