A Brief History Of Barter Theatre
Established in 1933 in the midst of the Great depression, Barter Theatre was founded by allowing townspeople to trade excess farms goods for tickets to see plays. Since then, the theatre has become the official State Theatre of the State of Virginia, and sees roughly 160,000 patrons annually.
Barter Theatre Now Presents:
Beginning May 19 and running until August 12, Barter Theatre will be presenting "Footloose: The Musical"on the historic Gilliam Stage for the enjoyment of its patrons. A cult classic known to Americans everywhere, nostalgic Top 100 Hits such as the titular "Footloose" and "Let's Hear It for the Boy" will be rendered live and locally.
Tickets will run from $20 - $52, and with options ranging from orchestral to balcony seating, each patron will find something to suit their needs. Handicap seating is also available, upon request. Tickets can be purchased by visiting bartertheatre.com or by calling (276) 628-3991.
