Diva Lamps

This week the children have been finding out about the Hindu festival of Diwali. The children loved making Diva Lamps which represented the light in this festival. The children also enjoyed learning about the story of Rama and Sita and how this story represents good over evil. We explored how Hindus celebrate Diwali over 5 days, such as giving gifts, eating special food and creating rangoli patterns.

We had a lovely “Stay and Read” morning this week in school where the parents were welcomed into class to listen to a story with their child and then take part in some activities linked to the story. We read Man on the Moon and the children learnt some interesting facts about space as well as making alien milkshake. They also wrote a list of the things they would like to take to space with them. During the lesson the children designed and made rockets and crafted alien puppets. A big thank you to all of the parents who could make this session.
