ITA Most Improved Senior Award
Marta Vicens Miquel from Saint Leo University has been named the 2023 ITA Most Improved Senior.
Vinvens Miquel has reached new heights in her final season with the Saint Leo program. Her overall record this season in singles is 28-8 and she holds a dual match record of 17-5.
In the final National rankings, Vinvens Miquel ranked No. 5 in the nation in singles and No. 4 in the nation in doubles. Her best wins this year include against No. 2 Sofia Smagina (Washburn) and No. 10 in the nation Julie Razafindranaly (Nova Southeastern). In doubles she had wins against No. 7 AUM, No. 8 Washburn, No. 12 Grand Valley State, No. 15 West Florida, No. 16 UIndy, and No. 17 Tampa.
Over her career, Vinvens Miquel has been named ITA Rookie of the Year (2018), ITA Player to Watch (2019), and an ITA Arthur Ashe Sportsmanship Award Winner (2022). She has also been president of the SAAC Committee and is a leader of the Saint Leo team.
She also was named to the Sunshine State Conference All-Conference First Team in both singles and doubles and reached career-high rankings in both singles and doubles this year.
