Hi! I'm Professor Goldstein. By day I’m a teacher. I’m a Maryland public school teacher. I’m a transgender Maryland public school teacher. I’m a Jewish transgender Maryland public school teacher. By night I’m still all of these things but I have a guitar in my hands and a microphone in front of me that I’ve been slowly learning how to use over the past decade. My students are still there in my lyrics about them and the playful banter I use to create a community around my music. My queerness in how I present myself. My Jewish values in what I boost and the chords I’ve plunked out from the Jewish fake book.
My band (Professor Goldstein & The Adjuncts) and I released our new single "Sick in New York" on December 19th, 2021. Listen to the tune below.
Sick in New York is a song that I wrote on my first tour while I was contemplating my goals in life. We had a lot of fun playing with the arrangements and ESPECIALLY making the music video for this tune, which takes place at my current job, teaching at an elementary school. Rock and Roll Forever
We've played established DC spaces such as DC9 and The Pocket as well as DIY staples such as the Braceface House since shows came back in 2021. We plan on releasing more singles throughout the fall and winter of 2021 and spring of 2022, we're looking forward to our continued relationship with organizations such as This Could Go Boom! and Phenomenal Womxn to keep bringing music to the DC area as well as getting out touring legs back!
