Empathise

Our project targets young adults in Cyprus between the ages of 18 to 25, without consideration of their beliefs, gender, education and income. In this day and age there is a lot of pressure from society to have a specific status. This status depends on the clothes and accessories that each person wears in their everyday life to feel accepted. Young people often think like this. At first glance, in this age group we can see that many young adults consume a big amount of new clothes and especially well known, trendy and expensive brands. They don't consider buying second-hand clothes and they don’t even consider recycling their own clothes. They don’t know how to recycle clothes and how to find them, so they accumulate a lot of clothes that are left in the closet or are hardly used. Most of them don’t even know the available thrift shops to buy from.

Define

Our target audience seems to be ignorant about the topic of thrifting and second hand clothing. If we observe our audience we can tell that they take into consideration the current standards of society as well as what is trendy and fashionable. What’s important is that they need to be educated about the topic (thrifting and second hand clothes) and it’s environmental impact on the planet. In Cyprus most young people today believe that second hand clothes are mostly old, out of date, not good quality and not wearable. Our aim is to change that way of thinking by proving that thrift shopping can be a unique, affordable experience and that these clothes aren’t bad. It is critical to note that those clothes can be from different eras and that's what makes them valuable. Also thrift shops in the Cypriot society are not well known and there are not that many shop options available so far for recycling clothes.

The final product of this campaign is an instagram and facebook account that contain:

  • Advertisement of thrift shops and their location (rattings)
  • Coupons/Giveaways
  • Styling of clothes
  • Clothes transformations

Posters and promotional video will be made for promotion of the accounts above that are going to be hang at the center of university.
