Robotics State Championship

Team TechKnowLogic 15004

Last weekend Baker had 2 additional robotics teams qualified for the State Championship, bringing our total to 3 teams!

11717 The Circuit Breakers and 16883 DinoByte! will join 15004 TechKnowLogic (who already qualified earlier this month) in representng Baker Middle School at the Championship event held at Macomb Community College December 9th and 10th.

16883 received the Connect Award, which is given to the team that most connects with their local science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) community.

11717 received the Inspire Award, which is given to the team that best embodies the ‘challenge’ of the FIRST Tech Challenge program. The team that receives this award is a strong ambassador for FIRST programs and a role model FIRST Team.

The State Championship will be held all day on the 9th and 10th - I'll reach out later with a list of students from all qualified teams to excuse their absence for that Friday

Scripps Spelling Bee

Baker is once again participating in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. The Baker Spelling Bee is on Tuesday, December 13, after school in the Media Center at 3:15 P.M. See Ms. Loch in the Media Center to sign up and get a Study List to prepare for the spelling bee. One person will be declared the school champion and will advance to the Oakland Schools Regional Finals March 4, 2023. No spectators will be allowed at the school bee, and when a student is declared out, that student is immediately dismissed to leave. Rides must be waiting outside. See the flyer below for details.

Band & Orchestra Fundraiser

The Baker Band and Orchestra programs are raising funds for new instruments, music, and equipment. Students can buy a “World’s Finest” chocolate bar for $1 from any band or orchestra student before or after school through December 1st. There will also be a special booth at lunch on Mondays and Wednesdays for students to purchase. Families can contact Dr. Xydas directly at sxydas@troy.k12.mi if you’d like to purchase an entire box of 60 bars for $60 for your business or family events. Thank you for your support of Baker Bands and Orchestras!

Support Our PTO

The Baker PTO has the opportunity to raise a significant amount of funds every year through purchases regularly made at Kroger and Amazon! Many of you already make purchases through theses companies. They are willing to donate a portion of the proceeds back to Baker.

These funds go directly into the classroom, impacting all Baker students. If you have not registered yet with Kroger or Amazon, simply click on the links below to find out how. Please consider asking your family and friends to sign up for this FREE benefit for our Bobcats. Thank you for support of the Baker PTO.
