Last week, we supported Save the Children's, 'Christmas Jumper Day.' The children looked fantastic in their Christmas jumpers and had a great day. We raised £86 for Save The Children!

We value our children's ideas, opinions and creativity. Today we celebrated all of the children who made it into the Golden Book this week.

Our Best
Look at our wonderful week of learning and getting ready for Christmas. We are very proud of our children for trying their best and not giving up.
January Arrangements
Yesterday, all schools in Wales received a letter from the Education Minister informing us that at the start of the spring term we will have two planning days. The two planning days will take place on Thursday 6th and Friday 7th January 2021. This announcement will hopefully not cause too much disruption to you as we had Staff Training Days already planned for these dates.
These days have been issued for the following reasons:
- Uncertainty regarding the impact of Covid over the Christmas period
- Allow schools to assess staffing levels and availability (Covid based absence)
- To update risk assessments and plan for ‘very high’ risk level mitigations, e.g, reintroduction of staggered start and finish times, active uniform etc
- To prepare for any further lockdown provision
All children will return to Minera School on Monday 10th January as planned.
I will write to you before the start of next term to update you on the situation.

Covid-19 Update
Currently, we are all very concerned about the increase in positive Covid cases in Wrexham and the uncertainty of the impact of Omicorn. It is important to inform school if your child or someone in your household has Covid symptoms or tests positive for Covid even during the Christmas holidays.
Staffing News
- Mrs Titchen has extended her Sabbactical Leave until September 2022. Mr Griffiths will continue to teach Nursery/Reception Class and Mr Barnes will continue as Deputy Headteacher
- Miss Davies will continue to teach Year 3/4 after Christmas until Easter.
- Mrs Edmonds is returning to Minera School after the Christmas holidays and she will be cover PPA.
Advent Service
On Tuesday, our Juniors visited St Mary's Church for an Advent Service. Mr Barnes has recorded the service for everyone to enjoy.
Christmas Presentations
Due to the current restrictions, Christmas has been celebrated differently at Minera School this year. Unfortunately, we have been able to host our normal Christmas Presentations at St Mary's Church.
Our children have been busy filming their Christmas Presentations this week and next week you will be able to view them online.
Friends of Minera News
Thank you to everyone who bought raffle tickets. The draw was made this morning and all prize winners will have received their prizes today or had a text message to collect.
The Friends of Minera have raised £ 498.40. through the raffle, Christmas cups and sale of knitted toys. A huge thank to the Friends of Minera for all your hard work. Also thank you to Dylan's gran for making this lovely Christmas cake and knitting the toys.
The Friends of Minera have provided every child in school with a Christmas Selection Box - thank you!
