Colours and Music Nursery, Autumn term, week 4

The hard work is beginning in nursery... not that the children have noticed! We like to do 'sneaky' learning through play, where the children are engrossed in a fun game or activity that has a learning purpose.

Our maths learning this week was to name colours and sort mixed objects into groups, according to colour. I'm pleased to say the children were very all successful at this.

Working as part of a group to name and sort colours.

In literacy, we are working on our sound awareness. We have daily stories and song that we listen to attentively. Our group activity was to experiment with making sounds and then see if we could identify a hidden instrument.

Singing, story time, and more songs with the lycra.

My favourite part of the week was playing outside (I'm sure many of the children will agree!). We did yoga together, practising balancing and movements that build core body strength.

A great stretch.
Super plank.
Tricky balances.
An upside down pose.
Great listening and attention skills.

The focus across our unit continues to be 'All about Me'. Your child may have talked about some of the experiences they have had in our different zones this week. Below you can see us exploring ways we can move our bodies, making self portrait collages, creating digital family drawings, and many other fun play activities.
