Volume 14. Issue 1. Kansas State University. Manhattan Ks

Fall 2022 Edition

Within the past year, K-State has welcomed a new president and won the Big XII football title. Needless to say, it is an exciting time to be a part of the Kansas State University community.

I am honored to serve as the executive director of the central gathering place for our community during this refreshing time on our campus. I often say that the K-State Student Union is the most amazing place to work on this beautiful campus. I am sure you will have a chance to see why after reading the first edition of the Union Today digital newsletter. I hope you enjoy learning about the many ways we work to build community, celebrate each other's accomplishments, offer refreshing services, and plan engaging programs. Like many of you, I am proud to be a Wildcat and look forward to crossing paths in the Union, where we come together with our students to get engaged, be empowered, and support the educational mission of this great university.

In October, President Linton donated the President's dining table to Union. It resides in the Konza Room located in the Union.

The dining table was originally purchased by former Kansas State President James McCain who held office from 1950 to 975. The table had resided in the president's home ever since.

Employee Achievement Award

The purpose of the award is to recognize Union employees who exemplify and embody the Union’s mission and values. The award is presented bi-annually, and each winner receives $500.

Congratulations to our fall 2022 Employee Achievement Award recipients. Kirsten Gross our student employee in the Director's office and Robert Howard our full-time Information Technology employee.

Presented by Union Program Council and Sponsored Tours, Country on Campus came Friday, Nov. 11 to Kansas State University and brought with them the hottest new talent in country music.

Thomas Mac is a Nashville artist who started performing live at the age of 14. With more than 3 million followers on TikTok and an enormous social media following, his newest single, “More Like a Bar,” from the EP by the same name, was recently released on digital platforms.

Conor Clemmons is (in his own words) energetic, passionate and driven. Clemmons, a Charlotte, North Carolina, native who moved to Nashville in 2013 and released his debut EP, “Left Of Center '' in 2016, which entered the iTunes country charts at number fifteen. His single, “Top it Off”, would make its way to being part of iHeart Country radio later that year.

Jaden Hamilton, a native to Prairieville, Louisiana knows that success takes risks. After graduating high school, Hamilton enrolled at Louisiana State University and after three weeks decided to take a risk and unenroll and move to Nashville to pursue his singing career.
